Sultan Selim I, ninth sultan of the Ottoman Empire, engraved on 925 sterling silver with his kaftan, his turban and the detail of his tughra. This collectible medallion, carrying the composed portrait of a conquering sultan who fitted the campaigns of Egypt and the Hejaz into an eight-year reign and brought the caliphate to the Ottomans, was produced with dense relief work.
